Tasked with stabilising the site and extended the useable carpark spaces, we worked alongside a head contractor as the specialized retaining wall supplier for this commercial project. The starting point for the project was unusable very steeply sloped land covered in thick scrub, which we cleared to create a blank canvas to construct a concrete soldier pile retaining wall.
Working to engineered specification, our team drilled 10m deep holes, which we filled with a mixture of steel cages and concrete for inground stabilisation. On top, an above ground timber retaining wall was constructed which we backfilled to provide a flat service to lay hotmix for the carpark area.
The end product delivered to the client was an area that doubled their useable land and carparking facilities; being in a highly dense commercial area, this project was vital in allowing business development and growth for our happy clients.
Waiheke Island
Private Residential Client
Waiheke Island is a paradise like no other, providing a tropical oasis of beaches and top vineyards only 40mins by boat from Auckland. Our client had a dream of relocating pre-built tiny houses to their undeveloped section on Waiheke Island, and sought out Precision Earthworks and Retaining to bring their vision to reality.
Although a relatively small-scale single property development, the logistical component of this project was second to none, with 95% of the materials and tipping being brought across from the mainland via barge. After providing a thorough cost estimation, our client put their full trust in us to develop the sloping section into three level terraced areas via a combination of timber retaining walls, gabion rock baskets and shotcrete stabilized banks. Over the course of a few months, our team made Waiheke their temporary home to deliver this project to a high level, bringing it home both on budget and within a tight timeframe for our clients to enjoy for years to come.
ST ANDREWS CHURCH HALL
HERITAGE BUILDING
This was a rather unfortunate situation for one of the oldest heritage buildings in New Lynn. Although this was a category B listed heritage building, its deterioration over the years meant it was at risk of collapse and likely to cause injury or death. All avenues were considered to save the church, but unfortunately the only option that was safe for both contractors and members of the public was full demolition.
We were contracted for this demolition, including taking precautions for any potential asbestos material, and carefully took the building down in stages. Of some respite was the fact that some of the 80 year old hand laid bricks and windows were salvaged.
