The challenge

Cyclone Gabrielle caused significant slip failure on the property. The ground was actively unstable and the repair had to hold permanently, not just hold for now.

Access to the failure zone was limited, which constrained both the plant we could use and how material could be moved.

Our approach

Working to geotechnical design, we installed 13-metre steel I-beam soldier piles to reach competent ground below the failure plane.

Platipus anchoring was used to tie the system back into stable ground, giving the wall the resistance the slope required without a larger structure.

The pile sequence and machine positions were planned around the restricted access before we mobilised, so the constrained working area never stopped the programme mid-job.

The result

The slope is permanently stabilised with an engineered system, and the property is safe to use again.

The work is representative of the storm-damage and land-stabilisation projects we take on for private landowners.
